Books
Within the past year I discovered a renewed passion for reading via the works of
older writers such as J.D Salinger and John Steinbeck. My thirst for reading has
since been rekindled and remains a fierce and prevailing force within my life.
My powers of imagination are at their highest when reading a well-written, lucid
novel and it is through the process of creating my own cover that I can reflect and
discover those parts of the book which felt most vital and important to me.
These covers are homages to some of the books that have been important to me
throughout my brief reading career, many of which will surely serve as future
support and nourishment later in life.
This is a classic psychological story of a relationship being stretched to its limits and the ensuing moral dilemmas.
This great book served as my first introduction to philosophy and the idea of questioning how one lives.
Within the countless covers for this book none address the relationship between Holden and his sister. It was the talk they had near the end of the book and the following walk from her school which really spoke to me.
The Wayward Bus is perhaps one of Steinbeck's lesser known works. I wanted to show the ominous beginning to the bus trip along with the lone waitress left in the diner with a bottle of spirits.
This is one of Maupassant's short stories and tells the tale of a lady who moves to a quiet village in France. The most evocative scene was at the end when she emerged from a forest walk to find the ocean at sunset.
